Demi Lovato Drops Inspiring New Song 'Still Have Me' After Max Ehrich Split

Demi Lovato has returned with a new single.

Hours ago, the singer posted a cryptic tweet signaling new music to come early this morning (September 30). “Music is always there for me... song in the am,” she tweeted last night, teasing a record which we now as “Still Have Me.”

Lovato’s latest single is an anthem of independence, with lyrics that speak truth to the power of believing in one’s self even during times of loneliness and uncertainty.

“I'm a mess and I'm still broken/ But I'm finding my way back/ And it feels like someone's stolen/ All the light I ever had,” Lovato sings on the emotional piano ballad, leading to the emotionally-charged chorus: “I don’t have much but at least I still have me/ And that’s all I need.”

It’s curious timing to put out new music for Lovato, who has been more or less embroiled in a messy public breakup with ex-fiance Max Ehrich, with whom she called it quits two months after announcing their engagement in July.

As fans know, Ehrich, who claims he was blindsided by the breakup news, said he and Lovato hadn’t even “officially” broken off their engagement, despite learning about their split “through a tabloid.”

Insiders say Lovato is “completely embarrassed” by the 29-year-old’s behavior on social media. "Demi is completely done and doesn't want to see him again at this point," a source told E! News. "She can't believe she fell into his trap and is really upset over it."

“Still Have Me” is Lovato’s newest offering to follow her uplifting collaboration with Marshmello on “OK Not To Be OK” and her duet with JoJo on “Lonely Hearts” (Remix). With her latest release, the Disney darling has unveiled five singles this year so far, including “Anyone,” “I Love Me,” and “I’m Ready” with Sam Smith.
