Melvin Gordon's Agent Requests Chargers Trade Star Running Back

AFC Divisional Playoff: Los Angeles Chargers Vs. New England Patriots At Gillette Stadium

The Los Angeles Chargers and their star running back Melvin Gordon do not appear to be making any progress toward a new contract. Gordon, who is set to earn $5.6 million in the final year of a five-year contract, has decided to hold out from training camp until he gets a new deal.

With both sides far apart, it is increasingly likely that the holdout will continue into the regular season.

Gordon's agent, Damarius Bilbo, told ESPN reporter Josina Anderson that he contacted Chargers general manager Tom Telesco and requested the Chargers trade his client.

Telesco told Bilbo that the team considers Gordon "family" and did not give him permission to seek out teams who might be interested in acquiring the star running back.

Gordon played in 12 games for the Charges last season, rushing for 885 yards and scoring ten touchdowns.
