Clark County Walk Against Heart Disease

Hundreds of area walkers will join the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke at the annual Clark and Champaign Counties Heart Walk on Saturday, February 24, 2018 the Upper Valley Mall, 1475 Upper Valley Pike, Springfield, OH 45504.

Registration begins at 8:30 A.M. and the non-competitive walk kicks off at 9:00 A.M.

The fun family event will feature vendor booths, and a health fair where walkers can learn more about risk factors for heart disease.

Many walkers are themselves survivors of heart disease and stroke and will be wearing red caps as a symbol of the fight against cardiovascular disease. Others will be walking in honor of friends or family affected by heart disease and stroke. Walkers raise money for the American Heart Association, which funds research, advocacy in issue areas central to cardiovascular health; and public and professional education. The event is expected to attract 300 area walkers and raise funds for the American Heart Association’s research and educational programs throughout Ohio.

“As the signature fundraising event for the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart healthy living in an environment that’s fun for the whole family,” said Kim Doherty, Heart Walk Director of the Miami Valley Division of the American Heart Association, “Heart disease and stroke account for 39% of all deaths in Clark County and 31% of deaths in Champaign County so it’s important that we continue the fight right here in our community. This family fun day that will also include some great activities for all ages.”
