That’s the date of the 2014 Premier Health Backyard Blitz High School Football Showcase at Centerville Stadium on the campus of Centerville High School.

In a big-splash news conference today at Miami Valley South Hospital, Backyard Blitz President Eric Horstman announced an annual event that will grow bigger and stronger in the coming years.

4 P.M., Centerville Stadium — Goose Creek (SC) High School vs. Pickerington (OH) Central High School.

8 P.M., Centerville Stadium — Glenbard North (IL) High School vs. Centerville (OH) High School — under new head coach Rodney Roberts @coachrjroberts.

According to my high school football expert Dave Berk @DMBerk, Goose Creek is a 4A school out of South Carolina that finished 5th in the state last season and has a 52-3 over the past 4 years. State Champions in 2011.

Glenbard North is an 8A school out of Illinois that finished 15th last season. Glenbard has qualified for the IHSA playoffs the last 11 years.

From Eric Horstman: “Similar to our nationally-ranked basketball invitational, The Good Samaritan Flyin’ to the Hoop, The Premier Health Backyard Blitz was formed to create a national stage that pits the best high school football programs in Ohio versus powerhouses from around the nation on Week One of the High School Football Season.”
